The Everywhere Book Fest!
Mrs. Vilagos' Top Must See Choices:
Day 1, Friday, May 1st:From their website, at 12pm there will be a : "... intense draw-off, viewers can submit prompts for a panel of beloved illustrators with different styles to draw in 1 minute or 90 seconds intervals. Viewers get to see how different artists approach the same subject and hold their breath in anticipation of who will create the “best” drawing, or at least the most complete one! Get your suggestions ready and join us!" As it says on their website, we will be sitting on the edge of our seats watching as, "Author-illustrators will have a Doodle Duel using audience prompts! While drawing Remy Lai (FLY ON THE WALL) and Kayla Miller (ACT) will answer audience submitted questions. And don’t worry, this intense duel will end in harmony as the panelists collaborate on a drawing of the characters from their upcoming books." Graphic novels are some of the most well loved ways of diving into reading. In this virtual session, as it states on their website, you have the chance to meet, "the coolest creators in the biz making graphic novels for young adult readers! Join Gene Yang (DRAGON HOOPS), Ngozi Ukazu (CHECK, PLEASE! 2: STICKS AND SCONES), and Lisa Brown (THE PHANTOM TWIN) as they discuss what first brought them to drawing and how they bring their stories alive through art all while drawing each other in their unique style!" Day 2, Saturday May 2nd:This one, held Saturday May 2nd at 12PM, is going to be so much fun! As the website states, "...picture book illustrators draw spontaneous suggestions made by YOU, the live viewing audience. A nail-biting no-holds-barred competition that will lay bare just how easy it is for artists to approach the same subject in vastly different ways—and lead into a discussion and Q&A about the illustrators’ respective processes in making books. It’ll be like The Hunger Games, but with drawing." Do you like hearing updates on things you can do?
